    English Oral Presentation

    Reflection

This assignment exposed me to various essential skills in oral presentation. Beside correct grammar and other language-related factors, the volume of the speakers, tone used and timing also play an integral part. Fortunately, the presentation is presented in the form of a video, thus, some of these factors can still be slightly altered with the help of video editing software.

Before the filming for the presentation, I have to research on the chosen topic. In a group, we have discussed and assigned each of our individual subtopics. When researching, I have to analyse and extract the important details and discard the unnecessary information, albeit relevant. Critical thinking played a bigger role in this phase. Next, I have to organize the extracted information into a smooth sequence so that my presentation comes out fluent.

When filming, I searched for a quieter and more enclosed space to avoid disturbing background noises. I practised for a few time before filming to get familiar with the planned script and the tonality that sounds smooth to me. I tried different sentence structures and made a few amendments to further smoothen the speech. Body language is very important as well. After several rounds of practise, I discovered my common mistake is excessive hand movement and I tried to improve in that aspect.
